There is a quiet power in setting intention. Unlike goal-setting, which often focuses on external outcomes, intention is rooted in inner alignment. It is the conscious act of choosing how we wish to show up in our lives, how we want to feel, live, grow, and connect.
When intention guides our thoughts, actions, and energy, it becomes a transformative force.
It creates clarity where there was confusion, focus where there was overwhelm, and grounded direction when the world around us feels chaotic. Intention reminds us that we are co-creators of our lives able to shape our path with awareness, purpose, and heart.
What Intention Really Means
Intentions are not to-do lists or checkboxes. They are prayers of the soul, quiet commitments we make to live in alignment with what matters most. An intention might be to speak more truthfully, to meet yourself with gentleness, or to embody love in the face of fear.
When we live with intention, we live from the inside out. We let our values shape our choices, and our awareness shape our presence. It is this depth of alignment that opens the doorway to meaningful change and lasting growth.
Journaling to Clarify Your Intentions
Journaling is a sacred space where your heart can speak freely. These prompts are designed to help you articulate what you long for, and call it into being with clarity and care:
• What do I wish to cultivate in my life right now?
(Patience, trust, joy, spaciousness - what is calling you forward?)
• How do these intentions reflect my core values?
(What do they say about who you are, and what you’re here to embody?)
• What fears or obstacles might arise, and how can I meet them with love?
(Naming the resistance helps dissolve its power.)
• What will it feel like when I am living in alignment with this intention?
(Let yourself visualise it fully - how it feels in your body, your relationships, your days.)
• What do I need to let go of to make space for this intention?
(Old habits, limiting beliefs, perfectionism - what no longer serves your becoming?)
The power of intention doesn’t come from writing it down once. It comes from returning, again and again, to what you’ve chosen to align with.
That may look like:
• Whispering your intention at the start of your day
• Lighting a candle and anchoring your focus before you begin a new chapter
• Taking mindful action that reflects your values
• Gently reflecting in the evening: Did I honour my intention today? Where did I stray? Where can I return with compassion?
Let your intention be a living practice, one that evolves with you and continues to bring you back home.
Intention in the Healing Journey
In my work as a therapist, intention is woven through every session. When you arrive with an intention, whether it’s to soften your inner critic, to reconnect with your truth, or to heal from what still hurts—it creates a sacred container for transformation.
Together, we revisit your intentions often. We explore how they show up, what supports them, what blocks them, and how you can embody them more fully.
Your intention might be:
• “I intend to reclaim my voice.”
• “I intend to trust myself.”
• “I intend to release what no longer belongs to me.”
• “I intend to soften into love.”
Whatever your intention is, it becomes the thread we follow—the gentle guide through your healing process.
Embrace the Power of Intention
Intentions are the language of the soul. They are not about doing more, but about being more you.
Let this be your invitation to pause. To listen. To write down what you long for. Then hold it close, tenderly, courageously, reverently.
Let intention become your anchor in the chaos. Your compass in the unknown. Your quiet revolution.
If this speaks to something within you, I invite you to explore more through my journal, sessions, or upcoming offerings. Until next time, may you return often to the truth of your own heart.
