Learning To Listen To Our Intuition

Learning To Listen To Our Intuition
  by Sahar Zadah

Our lives are guided by many influences, our physical environment, our relationships, our social roles. While these connections are meaningful, they can at times create a sense of fragmentation or noise within us. When the outer world becomes too loud, we may lose touch with the most vital guide of all: our intuition.

Intuition is not just a fleeting feeling; it is a deep, embodied knowing, a quiet but profound truth that lives within. It is the voice of the soul, a compass that points us back to ourselves, even when we feel lost. Learning to listen to this voice is a sacred practice, one that invites us into deeper alignment, self-trust, and wholeness.

Understanding Intuition

Intuition reveals itself uniquely for each of us. It might arrive through a sudden knowing, a bodily sensation, a dream, or a quiet whisper that says, this isn’t right or go this way. Sometimes it speaks through symbols and synchronicities. Other times it is simply a feeling that settles in the body before the mind can make sense of it.

However it arrives, intuition always speaks from a place of wisdom, offering guidance rooted not in fear or logic, but in truth. Reconnecting with this voice means learning to turn inward, soften the noise, and trust the stillness that speaks within.

Steps to Strengthen Your Inner Voice

1. Openness: Embracing Inner Truth

The first step is creating space - space within your mind, your heart, and your daily life to welcome intuitive insight. This may mean setting down the need for external validation or certainty and choosing instead to trust the quiet stirrings of your own inner knowing.

Ask yourself: What might my intuition be trying to tell me right now, if I allowed myself to listen?

2. Awareness: Attuning to Subtle Cues

Intuition often speaks softly, beneath the surface. It may show up as a tension in the gut, a flash of inspiration, a recurring image, or a moment of pause. Cultivating awareness means slowing down enough to notice.

Practices like journaling, dreamwork, walking in nature, or sitting in meditation help you become more attuned to the subtle language of your body and spirit.

3. Self-Love: Nurturing Your Inner Wisdom

Self-love is the soil in which intuition grows. When we judge ourselves harshly or dismiss our feelings, we silence the intuitive voice. But when we offer ourselves compassion and reverence, we create space for that voice to rise.

Speak to yourself gently. Honour what you feel. Celebrate your sensitivity. Intuition flourishes in an environment of safety and trust.

My Journey with Intuition

There have been moments in my life where I’ve followed intuition even when logic pulled me in another direction. And those moments though sometimes uncertain, have led to the most honest, expansive, and healing chapters of my journey.

But there have also been times when I disconnected, when I doubted, silenced, or second-guessed that voice. In those moments, I learned that returning to intuition is not about perfection; it is about relationship. It is a relationship we can rebuild at any time, through patience, practice, and love.
